Getting in the Halloween spirit

A little poetry to get you in the spooky mood of my most favorite holiday!
(My apologies for poetic license, but "five" didn't rhyme!)

Once upon a forum dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious thread of forgotten gore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my convo door.
'Tis some buyer,' I muttered, 'tapping at my convo door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak September,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
From my crafts surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Etsy four -
For the rare and snarky maidens whom the angels named Etsy four -
Nameless here for evermore.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
'Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `'art sure no craven.
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
Quoth the raven, 'Etsy four.'

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Rokali just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

Only four now, hmmmmmm? Someone has been eliminated. Murdered perhaps. Their body encased in cement to assure that secrets are not revealed. (insert spooky music)

I like that raven necklace a lot!

"Etsy five" didn't rhyme! LOL
And unfortunately, one has completely vanished now. :( Buried alive beneath the floorboards (it was getting too crowded under the rug, that's where they sweep bugs) but her heart still beats and will haunt the murderer forever!
woooOOOoooooOOOOoooo

Ha ha... that demonic eyed bust of Rokali. I'd say RevolvingDink is more demonic eyed, but I wouldn't really want a bust of that guy... Okay, I admit, I don't think I'd want either one. Maybe for target practice.

No, Howard, you misunderstood. The raven has the demonic eyes, not the bust he's sitting on. I guess the pronoun reference "his eyes" is a bit unclear.

The bust of Rokali is merely pallid, not demonic.
1. Having an abnormally pale or wan complexion.
2. Lacking intensity of color or luminousness.
3. Lacking in radiance or vitality; dull.

Now, say what you will about demons, but they are never dull or colorless!

Speaking of marble busts, I am quite surprised that no devoted Etsian has sculpted a portrait of the one who has "given his life for Etsy" yet, out of marble or perhaps solid gold.
Perhaps martyred on a cross, or shot through with arrows like St. Sebastian? And the deadly arrows are the reasonable expectations of paying customers.
What kind of utopian community doesn't have statues of the glorious leader on every street corner? The latest Etsy promo zine does resemble a religious pamphlet though. No, seriously. It's called "meet your maker".

the etsy zine is way scary and seems to suggest you need brainwashing to buy into the etsy way!

and for what it's worth i think the bust would be handknitted then felted

Felt makes good voodoo dolls.
Just sayin'.
But there have to be giant statues, otherwise what are the angry mobs going to knock over when the revolution comes?
Maybe more like Stalin, less like Jesus.
